Hearse stolen during funeral

A hearse was stolen from a New York church during a funeral Wednesday morning.

Michael Healing, 28, was arrested in connection with the theft of the hearse from St. Michael‘s Roman Catholic Church that was used  to carry a Buffalo, N.Y., man‘s deceased father. Mid-funeral, Joe Brown, who was carrying his father‘s casket, was alerted by the funeral director that the hearse had gone missing, WIVB reported.

The family had to wait a half-hour for another hearse to arrive.

Healing was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and unathorized use of a vehicle.

“It’s more baffling than anything else,” a man told WIVB. “Why would someone want to take a hearse, something you would assume that if you found on Craigslist or Ebay? It’s pretty readily identifiable.”
