Four seniors have been crucial to Rebels basketball

Saturday's Senior Night game will be special for our program. It is always one of the most important dates of any season because it provides an opportunity to honor players who have meant so much. We have four important seniors who will be honored: Oscar Bellfield, Brice Massamba, Chace Stanback and Kendall Wallace.

All four of these guys have had terrific careers at UNLV. They have won a lot of games, played in NCAA Tournaments and have represented the university in a positive manner. I feel extremely fortunate that in my first year as the head coach at my alma mater, I have had the opportunity to be around and to coach these four quality individuals. I have no doubt they will be successful in life. They will have a chance to continue their basketball careers, and they will make a difference in the world.

Our fans have been so great this season, and I encourage everyone to come early Saturday to share in the senior ceremony. It will be an emotional night, but we also understand that it will be a challenge to play against a Wyoming team that has won 20 games this season and is playing good basketball.

Next week the conference tournament will be played at the Thomas & Mack Center. It is always an exciting week of basketball in Las Vegas for Mountain West fans. We all understand how competitive our conference is from top to bottom, and we are anticipating every game to be hard fought.

On March 11, we will have an NCAA Tournament Selection Show viewing event at the Thomas & Mack Center. It is free, and the doors open at 2 p.m. in anticipation of the show, which will be shown on the video screens in the arena at 3. Concession stands will be open, and we invite all Runnin' Rebel fans to be a part of Selection Sunday with our team.

I have said many times that any success we have is made more special when we can share it with our many fans. I can't say enough about the great support that our program feels from the community.

We feel like we have made great progress this season, but we know how much hard work still is ahead of us. With the success we have had this season, we certainly give a lot of the credit to the great Runnin' Rebel fans.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday at Senior Night as we honor Kendall, Chace, Brice and Oscar -- four great Runnin' Rebels.
