Alyssa Tygh, president of the National Juniors honor society at Becker Middle School, recently won a $1,000 grant from the Youth Neighborhood Association Partnership Program to put on a special education field day at her school. She also qualified as a finalist for Miss Teen Nevada and is set to represent the state at National American Miss. Along with maintaing a 4.0 GPA in excelled classes, she has played the Lil Rebels ASA travel softball team for eight years. Her ultimate goal is to get a student-athlete college scholarship.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Sabrina Yeghiazarian graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Yeghiazarian is the daughter of Aida and Edward Yeghiazarian of Las Vegas and is a 2008 graduate of Faith Lutheran Middle School and High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Aaron C. Lincicome graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Lincicome is the son of Annette and Dave Lincicome of Las Vegas and is a 2007 graduate of Rancho High School.

Air Force Airman Andres S. Popp graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Popp is the son of Teresa and Lee Popp of Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Bonanza High School.

Air Force Reserve Airman Jaimie N. Barnes graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Barnes is the daughter of Lori Foell of Las Vegas.

Air Force Airman Brandon L. Harvey graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Harvey earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Martha Giles and Mason Harvey, both of Las Vegas, and is a 2011 graduate of Arbor View High School.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Suzanne C.E. O’Grady graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. O’Grady is the daughter of Lisa and Ian O’Grady of Reno and is a 2013 graduate of Nevada Virtual Academy.

Nearly 8,000 students made the fall 2013 Dean’s List at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, including Ashley Yelton of Henderson and Alexandria Luevano-Harden of Las Vegas.

Brittney Brooks of Las Vegas is a recipient of the fall 2013 Dean’s Award for academic excellence during the fall 2013 term at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y.

Approximately 4,000 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the fall 2013 Dean’s List, including Benjamin Moser of Henderson and Joseph Rajchel of Las Vegas.

Evan Gong, 17, of Henderson was recently honored as a distinguished finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. Gong is a junior at Nevada Virtual Academy, a full-time online public school. He used the flexibility provided by the school’s technology, and the support of his teachers, to move through his classes at a faster pace, take dual-enrolled classes at UNLV and volunteer with TRIO, a U.S. Department of Education program that provides resources and assistance to students in need from middle school through college.

Yolanda Li, a University of Houston environmental sciences major from Las Vegas, was among the more than 7,000 students who made the fall 2013 Dean’s List.

Austin Taft of Las Vegas has been named to the fall 2013 Dean’s List at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Deborah Ward graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Ward is the daughter of Rachel Cook of North Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Cheyenne High School.

Desirae Lair and Wei Lin, both of Las Vegas, have been named to the fall 2013 Dean’s List at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

Army 2nd Lt. Stevan Molinar has graduated from the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Molinar is the son of Angelica Molinar of Las Vegas, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012 from UNLV.

The following local residents were among 708 students who made the fall 2013 Dean’s List at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif.: Sarah Forsythe and Sofia Cruz of Henderson; and Skylar Wichert, Andrew Hudgins, Alexandra Andrews and Genni Becker, all of Las Vegas.

Army Reserve Pfc. Quincey M. Greene has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Greene is the son of Tamara and Cedric Greene of Las Vegas and is a 2013 graduate of Palo Verde High School.

Army National Guard Pfc. Duanemor J. Diaz has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Diaz is the son of Debbie Diaz and nephew of Lily Pearl and Alex Agustin, all of Las Vegas, and is a 2013 graduate of Del Sol High School.

Kayla Connick of Las Vegas earned 2013 fall Dean’s List honors at Maryville University in St. Louis.
