INTRO TO COMPUTERs SEMINAR planned

The Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, is scheduled to host a seminar on computers from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 4.

Participants can expect to learn how to use a computer and basic components of Microsoft Windows 7.

The event is free. Class size is limited to 12 people and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

BUSINESS SERIES TALKS ABOUT TAXES

The Roadmap to Success series, hosted by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce and Henderson Business Resource Center, is scheduled to hold its next Roadmap to Success seminar from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Jan. 5 at the resource center, 112 S. Water St.

The topic slated to be discussed is called "Tax Strategies and Updates: Small Business Can Save Big." There is no cost for chamber members, while nonmembers pay $25.

GARDEN CLUB to host MONTHLY MEETING

Sunset Garden Club is scheduled to host its monthly meeting at noon Jan. 10 at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.

Green Valley Ranch Resort celebrated its 10-year anniversary Dec. 8.

BEST WESTERN PLUS OPENS IN HENDERSON

Best Western International announced the grand opening of the Best Western Plus Henderson Hotel, 1553 N. Boulder Highway. The 3-year-old property was purchased in April and went through $150,000 worth of improvements. The hotel has a AAA 3 Diamond rating.

SEWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LIBRARIAN WINS AWARD AND FUNDING FOR SCHOOL

Rebecca Hunt, a librarian at Sewell Elementary School, 700 E. Lake Mead Parkway, was named a Librarian of the Week by SuperPawn. She received $1,000 to be used to enhance the school's library and a piece of jewelry from National Jewelry Liquidation Center.

Librarians from Scott and Craig elementary schools in North Las Vegas and Katz Elementary School in Summerlin also were awarded. Librarians were nominated by their peers.
