A La Carte: Dining events and news for April 7-13, 2016

Free Cone Day: The event, held by Ben & Jerry’s, is set from noon to 8 p.m. April 12 at 1301 W. Sunset Road. It is to benefit the CASA Foundation. Entertainers are to serve ice cream, and small cones or cups are free, but patrons are encouraged to donate to the charity.

Disney-inspired menu: Triple George Grill, 201 N. Third St., is set to debut a “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” menu in honor of the Broadway musical’s run at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The a la carte menu will be available April 8-17. Call 702-384-2761.

New bakery/cafe to open in Henderson: Kneaders Bakery & Cafe is set to open April 8 at 11271 Eastern Ave. The fast-casual restaurant and retail shop offers pastries, sandwiches and pies. Northern Italian Classics class: The class with chef Les Kincaid is planned from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 19 at Ferguson Enterprises, 4175 S. Grand Canyon Drive. Learn to prepare classic dishes of Northern Italy. The cost is $55 per session. Fish to Perfection class: The class with chef Les Kincaid is scheduled from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 26 at Ferguson Enterprises, 4175 S. Grand Canyon Drive. Attendees can overcome their fears of preparing fish, covering three ways to cook fish as well as the how-tos of buying, storing and substituting one fish for another. Discover healthy best choices for consumption, as well as fish to avoid per local fish advisories. The cost is $55 per session. Dress for Success and Crave partnership: Through May 4, Dress for Success Southern Nevada, a local nonprofit that provides gently used professional clothing and career counseling services to empower women to achieve economic independence, is set to partner with Crave American Kitchen & Sushi Bar in Downtown Summerlin, 10970 Rosemary Park Drive, as part of the restaurant group’s Crave Cares program. Upcoming support events include:

— A kick-off happy hour event between 4 and 7 p.m. April 7. Light appetizers, food and drink specials are to be available.

— Round up checks to the nearest dollar or add any donation amount, and proceeds will benefit Dress for Success Southern Nevada, through Crave America’s partnership with Round It Up America.

— A percentage of the proceeds from items purchased off the Crave Cares chef specials menu will benefit Dress for Success Southern Nevada.

— Drop off new or gently used professional clothing, shoes and accessories in the designated donation area inside the restaurant.

Donate to Junior Achievement: During April, guests who dine on Tuesdays at Fogo de Chao locations at 360 E. Flamingo Road or at Downtown Summerlin, 10975 Oval Park Drive, can have 35 percent of their purchase go to Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. Eggs for Education: The scholarship fundraising event hosted by McDonald’s is planned through April 8 at participating Southern Nevada restaurants. Every restauraunt will donate $1 from every Egg McMuffin and Sausage McMuffin with Egg, a la carte sandwich, or Extra Value Meals to its Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas scholarship program. Food Truck Fridays: From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 8 and 15, local food trucks are to set up shop in the parking lot of the Huntridge Shopping Center, 1120 E. Charleston Blvd.

Beer festival: Motley Brews’ sixth annual Great Vegas Festival of Beer is planned from 3 to 7 p.m. April 9 near the Fremont East Entertainment District. Early-entry tickets (2 to 7 p.m.) are $50 until April 9 and $55 at the door. VIP Brewer’s Lounge (2 to 7 p.m.) tickets are $90 until April 9 and $95 at the door. General admission beer tasting tickets (3 to 7 p.m.) are $40 until April 9 and $45 at the door. Visit greatvegasbeer.com.

Maibock Tapping Party: From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 14, the public is invited to attend the Maibock Tapping Party at Gordon Biersch, 3987 Paradise Road. Guests can be the first to taste Gordon Biersch’s Maibock, a seasonal unfiltered auburn lager brewed with pale roasted caramel malts. Each guest will receive one complimentary beer along with a sampling of Gordon Biersch’s seasonal menu. Additional beer tickets may be purchased for $5 and can be saved and used for up to one month following the event. Happy hour items will be available until 6:30 p.m. featuring specials priced between $2.95 and $11.95. Open to anyone at least 21 years of age, the event will also include a silent auction with items from Gordon Biersch as well as show tickets, restaurant gift certificates, retail merchandise and more. All of the silent auction and beer ticket sales will benefit Opportunity Village.

Five-course beer dinner: As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House, 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is partnering with Firestone Walker Brewing Co. to host a five-course beer dinner at 6:30 p.m. April 15. Menu offerings and items will be paired or prepared with signature and limited edition craft brews. Tickets are $97 per person (tax and gratuity included). All courses will be served individually. Le Diner en Blanc: The event is planned for April 17 at a location to be announced at the last minute. The event is white-only themed, and guests must wear all white and bring a white tablecloth and tablescape (as desired) and a picnic basket comprising fine food, proper stemware and white dinnerware. Vegas Uncork’d: The 10th anniversary of Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appetit is planned April 28-May 1 at four Las Vegas resorts: Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, The Venetian and the Palazzo. Tickets are available at vegasuncorked.com.

Discovering Wine class: The session is planned from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through May 4, at Pinot’s Palette, 1000 S. Rampart Blvd. For those 21 or older, the class is all about tasting. It is $219 for five sessions. The classes are offered by chef Les Kincaid through the UNLV Continuing Education January-August catalog.
