Something unique is always baking at Great Harvest Bread Co.

Some days you feel like honey whole wheat, while other days call for caramel apple crumble. Perhaps it’s a spinach feta day, or even time for chocolate brownie bread. They can all be had — on different days of the week — at Great Harvest Bread Co.

With four Las Vegas Valley locations (the two Henderson locations and the North Las Vegas store I visited are run by the same franchisee, while the Summerlin-area location is operated by another), Great Harvest offers six daily breads as well as specialty breads on different days of the week. In North Las Vegas, the 6475 N. Decatur Blvd. location in the Shadow Mountain Market Place near the 215 Beltway offers honey whole wheat, light wheat, harvest white, sourdough, pumpkin spice and pumpkin chocolate chip bread every day ($5.95 to $8.25 per loaf), and other breads, ranging from lemon blueberry cake bread to Asiago sourdough to cheddar garlic, Mondays through Saturdays.

Besides the breads, a variety of baked goods ($1.95 to $3.25 each; $7.75 for Pull-A-Parts) are offered throughout the week, including Mazurka bars on Mondays, blondies on Tuesdays, lemon bars on Wednesdays, triple chocolate chip scone on Thrusdays, cinnamon rolls on Fridays, and berry cream cheese scone on Saturdays.

But Great Harvest isn’t just a bakery: Each location is also a sandwich shop, with a menu of signature sandwiches ($6.95 to $7.75) as well as build-your-own options, all available on the house-baked breads. I selected one of the two vegetarian offerings on the signature sandwiches menu, the Vegas Veggie (the other is the Great Grilled Cheese), which was advertised as being served with chipotle aioli or hummus on toasted honey whole wheat with fresh spinach, tomato, cucumber, red onion and balsamic drizzle ($6.95). I opted to ditch the tomato and add Provolone cheese (I also wasn’t offered the choice of chipotle aioli or hummus — mine was made with the chipotle aioli, which was tasty but a bit spicy). With the combination of flavors, I didn’t miss the meat.

I also had a build-your-own sandwich ($6) on harvest white with ham, Swiss, basil mayo, honey mustard, pickles and lettuce. This sandwich was a two-hand deal with plenty of meat and lots of flavor provided by the basil mayo.

Other signature selections: Turkey Pesto, Turk ‘N Berry with cranberry sauce, The Reuben, Little Italy, The Best BLT, Tasty Tuna, Chicken Berry Pecan with house-made chicken salad, and Roast Beef Chimichurri. There’s also a breakfast sandwich ($6.25) with choice of ham, bacon or sausage with egg, cheddar cheese, garlic spread, red onion, tomato and green pepper on honey whole wheat.

The interior of the shop offers ample seating to stay and enjoy your sandwich, as well as a grab-and-go bread rack and a selection of flavored jellies, marinades and vinegars for sale.

Caraway rye bread will be available on Tuesdays in April and zucchini bread on Tuesdays in May. Thursdays offer baker’s choice.

The North Las Vegas Great Harvest is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. All locations are closed on Sundays.
