PT’s menu makes a fine complement to eatery’s first Las Vegas brewery

Have a cold one: PT’s has opened its first brewery, and it has plenty of food to complement the beer.

PT’s Brewing Co. opened this year at 3101 N. Tenaya Way in the former Tenaya Creek Brewery site across from MountainView Hospital. The modern industrial look is tempered with the dining area, which is designed to look more like a wine cellar. Faux stone arches cross the the dining area and the ceiling feature a stamped concrete signature look. Bench seating takes a serpentine twist against the back wall. Glass affords a look at the brewing component of the eatery. About 135 diners can be accommodated inside and out.

The menu changes seasonally, but tavern staples include Buffalo wings in three degrees of hotness, as well as other varieties: teriyaki, Gold Fever, barbecue, bourbon barbecue and double-baked Cajun. There are chicken fingers, beef sliders and loaded potato chips.

Shared plates offer roasted Brussels sprouts, calamari done to perfect crispness, pan-seared potstickers served with a soy ginger dipping sauce, garlic shrimp served with creamy grits, and loaded potatoes with cheesy bacon and sour cream. Order the giant pretzel, which is so big it’s served on a hook. The dipping sauce is a five-cheese chef’s special mixed with beer.

Portions here are generous — the loaded chips are a mountain — so this is food that is meant to be shared.

For those with larger appetites, wrap your hands around one of PT’s club sandwiches, served with a choice of Coo Coo Fries (read: Tater Tots), Coo Coo Chips or coleslaw. The Big Club features roasted turkey, Black Forest ham, bacon, spinach leaves, tomato and, to add that touch of zing, banana peppers.

The New Yorker brings it home with pastrami, roast beef, corned beef, Provolone, Swiss and pepper jack cheeses on marbled rye. The barbecued pulled pork is served on a brioche bun.

Big plates includes penne pasta with sweet Italian sausage; 14-ounce New York strip steak, a chicken pot pie so large it can be two meals; miso-glazed salmon; fried chicken; Thai curry shrimp bowl; and a create-your-own burger with a plethora of toppings from which to choose: fried egg, chili, grilled mushrooms, crumbled bleu cheese and avocado.

And no tavern fare is complete without pizza. PT’s offers three kinds: The Gilroy has garlic white sauce with Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, artichoke hearts, red onion, mushroom and tomato; The Hunter’s has bacon, Italian sausage, linguica, pepperoni and onions; and barbecue chicken includes caramelized onions and cilantro.

And keep some room for dessert, including the Zookie, a deep-dish cookie; chocolate cream pie in a jar; key lime cheesecake; or caramel apple crunch.

PT’s is open 24/7. Call 725-333-7151 or visit pteglv.com.
