The Mitzvah Project: The national tour of The Mitzvah Project arrives in Las Vegas at 7:30 p.m. March 5 at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. "The Mitzvah" ("The Good Deed"), a one-person play created by Roger Grunwald with director and Broadway veteran Annie McGreevey, explores the World War II story of more than 100,000 German men who — classified as "mischlinge, the derogatory term the Nazis used to describe those descended from one or two Jewish grandparents — fought in the German armed forces. The story of one such mischling is at the center of The Mitzvah. The play is to be followed by a lecture that examines the history that gave rise to mischling-soldiers. Nevada Women's Film Festival: Robin Greenspun is set to be honored as Nevada Women Filmmaker of the Year at this year's Nevada Women's Film Festival, set to kick off March 4 in the Big Springs Theater at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., with a reception and screening of her documentary "Semicolon: The Adventures of Ostomy Girl."
