A back-to-school fair is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at Centennial Hills Park near Buffalo Drive and Elkhorn Road. Students will receive free binders and other school supplies while they last. Admission is free. For more information, call 702-229-6154.

CLARK COUNTY LIBRARY PLANS
USED BOOK SALE FOR TEACHERS

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District plans a used book sale for teachers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Teachers will be able to purchase used books for 25 cents each.

FREE SCHOOL SUPPLIES AVAILABLE
TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN NEED

Project 150, a local nonprofit organization that helps homeless students, plans two back-to-school shopping events for disadvantaged students in August. Students with a valid high school ID can pick out clothes, shoes, toiletries and school supplies for the upcoming school year.

The events are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9 at Western High School, 4601 W. Bonanza Road, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at University United Methodist Church, 4412 S. Maryland Parkway. For more information, visit project150lv.org or email Meli Pulido at meli.pulido@project150lv.org.

SUMMER GRADUATION CEREMONY
PLANNED FOR AUG. 14

The Clark County School District’s second annual summer graduation ceremony is scheduled at 9 a.m. Aug. 14 at the Las Vegas Academy Theatre, 315 S. Seventh St. The ceremony will honor students from around the district who met graduation requirements through summer school. More than 300 students received diplomas last summer.

NONPROFIT PLANS SUPPLIES DRIVE
TO HELP STUDENTS

HELP of Southern Nevada, a nonprofit organization that assists low-income families, plans a school supplies drive through Sept. 12 at its headquarters, 1640 E. Flamingo Road. HELP asks for backpacks, paper, pens, pencils, erasers, binders, notebooks, scissors or other supplies. The office is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Sushi Roku, 3500 Las Vegas Blvd. South, also is scheduled to collect supplies through Sept. 2 on behalf of HELP. Diners who donate will receive a free order of edamame.

A Ward 5 Back-To-School Fair with Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow is planned at 9 a.m. Aug. 17 at Lorenzi Park, 3333 W. Washington Ave. Wristbands are to be distributed beginning at 8:30 a.m., while they last. Admission is free.

FREE MEALS AVAILABLE FOR KIDS
DURING SUMMER

Clark County children can receive free meals during summer as part of the Summer Food Service Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. There are 57 sites throughout the Las Vegas Valley serving lunch and breakfast to those 18 or younger. For more information or for the nearest site, call 866-348-6479.

SCHOOL DISTRICT TO PROVIDE
SUMMER LESSONS ONLINE

The Clark County School District is offering online learning activities and resources for parents and students over the summer.

Families with students in 12th grade or younger can access grade-appropriate activities in math and reading at ccsd.net/district/summer-learning-guides.

The lessons are available in English or Spanish.

HENDERSON LIBRARIES HOSTS
STUDENT PHOTO CONTEST

Henderson Libraries is hosting a photography contest open to all Clark County School District students. The theme of the contest is Breaking New Ground, and the submission deadline is Aug. 24. For more information, call 702-207-4261 or visit any Henderson library branch.

KELLY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO HOST
SAFETY EVENT AUG. 6

Kelly Elementary School, 1900 N. J St., plans a Safe Summer Nights Celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 6. Residents can learn about community safety, summer youth activities, health services, adult education opportunities and more. Entertainment and refreshments also will be provided. Admission is free.

FREE BACK-TO-SCHOOL FAIR SET
AT east las vegas COMMUNITY CENTER

A free back-to-school fair is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at the East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

Free school supplies are to be available, and free snow cones will be offered while supplies last. Participants can enjoy face painting, crafts for the kids and a jump house.
