4. Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival: The 22nd annual festival is set to return to Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road, Oct. 9-11. More than 200 artisans, historical re-enactments, and food and drink are planned. With traditional musical performances from Wicked Tinkers, Dread Crew of Oddwood, Bogtrotter's Union and Killian's Angels, and the return of the dinner theater, this year's event is set to feature several smaller stages with entertainment by the Gypsy Time Travelers, Mullaney, Nature of Mercy, Whiskey Bards and costumed performers such as the Bawdy Juggler Adam Reid, Endless Productions and the Snake Army. The festival is set to be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 9 and 10 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11. Medical Marijuana 101: A free program titled What You Need to Know about Medical Marijuana Dispensaries is planned at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. The program aims to provide an understanding of the laws governing such businesses, who can use them, how they operate and more. A question-and-answer session is planned after the program, set to be conducted by the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health and the city of Henderson community development and services department and business licensing division. Women's car clinic: Imperial Auto & Truck Service Center, 1251 American Pacific Drive, plans to host the free event from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 13 for the first 15 women who register. The hands-on clinic will include training materials and cover general vehicle maintenance and how to tell when repairs are needed. Fifteen raffle prizes are set to be awarded. Rockin' Art of Sloan Canyon: In partnership with the city of Henderson and the Friends of Sloan Canyon, the Inspirada community invites valley residents to participate in the inaugural contest. Photography and artwork must be inspired by the ancient art, geology, cultural and natural resources and flora and fauna of the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area. The categories are: photography for participants 15 or older; photography for high school students; and two artwork categories for elementary and middle school students. The public is encouraged to vote for favorite entries during the People's Choice judging period, which will identify 26 winners, determined by the entries that receive the most likes at facebook.com/inspiradanv. A judging panel will identify one contestant from the winners as the Best of Show grand prize recipient.
