St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival: The 50th Annual Southern Nevada Sons and Daughters of Erin St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 11, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 12 and noon to 9 p.m. March 13. Each attendee will select their own bowl made by members and friends of the Nevada Clay Guild and keep it as a lasting reminder of world hunger. Rose varieties include hybrid teas, floribundas, shrubs, rugosas, damasks, noisettes and miniatures. The beds have engraved signage bearing the names of the roses, the varieties and the year of market introduction. The garden recently received a certificate of achievement in the Small Garden class during the national Sunshine ‘n Roses Pacific Southwest District’s annual convention. The district spans Southern California, Arizona, parts of Nevada, New Mexico and West Texas. The garden is maintained by Master Gardeners and members of the South Valley Rose Society. Native Milkweed Seed Study: Native rush milkweed seeds are set to be available free from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at the Master Gardener Help Desk inside the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road. Those who pick up the packets must take part in a study involving monarch butterflies. The plants encourage the butterflies to lay eggs. Participants will receive instructions, as well as periodic surveys to track seed germination, plant survival and visits by monarch butterflies. Sunset Road. CBRE has pledged all profits to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth and The Public Education Foundation’s Clark County Reads program. The acoustic guitar concert is set to feature Hunter Hayes, Justin Moore, Charles Kelley, Kip Moore and Kelsea Ballerini. Glass Craft & Bead Expo: The 21st annual event is planned from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 1 and 2 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 3 at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event will offer nearly 150 booths and 70 tabletops, as well as demos in flameworking and other glass art techniques. Call for musicians: The nonprofit Las Vegas Young Artists Orchestra is seeking applications for its new Academy Orchestra program for youths 15 or younger who show significant potential. The free program will welcome up to 50 new students who will work alongside internationally recognized guest artists and perform regularly throughout the year. The application deadline is April 8.
