Literary Las Vegas: Peter Magliocco
December 25, 2015 - 8:00 am
Strippers, junkies and former beauty queens are among the stars of Las Vegas poet Peter Magliocco's latest collection "Downtrodden Millennium." The 25-year editor of the literary magazine ART:MAG packs his book with poems in which police cars interrupt nude nirvanas, and the essence of existence is contemplated while doing the laundry.
Excerpt:
Thermal Being
In outmoded caress I see you
For a world given to wildfire
With sanguine lilies entwining us
Beneath the puppet's stray fingers
Catapult me from the piano man
Singing of immolated souls tonight
& weigh all ethereal moments
In barely felt winds of autumn
Memory's first kisses linger
On a child in your god's image
Now ashen with resurrected flame
