A new home for Xanny: Dressage horse donated to Las Vegas WHY Ranch

White Horse Youth Ranch, 8390 W. Windmill Lane, a Christian faith-based nonprofit dedicated to helping socially challenged youths ages 5 to 18, recently received a donation of a horse named Xanny. The horse’s owner, Hanne Bolette Nouri Andersen, worked with WHY Ranch graduate and jockey Lauren Sokolowski to donate the 13-year-old paint gelding, who recently competed in the United States Dressage Federation Regionals in Los Angeles and won Reserve Champion.

“I purchased him four years ago from a trainer where he was a western dressage lesson horse,” Andersen said. “I fell in love with him because of his gentle demeanor and how easy he was to ride. I originally bought him for trail, but we soon ended up in the dressage arena and it turned out he knew all exercises to third level. Unfortunately, he was too arthritic to continue in the show ring, so he retired. I had refused to give him to other places using therapy horses because I was not sure those were a match for my horse. When Lauren told me about WHY Ranch, I knew this was where Xanny belongs. He will get the exercise, love and attention, and the kids will enjoy his kind and friendly demeanor along with him teaching them to ride. I’m delighted to donate my horse to his new forever home.”
