Soroptimist International of Greater Las Vegas has installed its 2013-14 board of directors.

They are: Kim Harney-Moore, president; Sue Cavaco, president-elect; Amber Schrock, vice president; Maffy Forrester, secretary; Claire Kurlinski, treasurer; Barbara Agonia, immediate past president; Esther Gregurek, director; Carolyn McClure, delegate; and Catherine Bellver, parliamentarian.

Soroptimist International is an organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in their communities and throughout the world.

Cynthia Vannucci was honored by the Professional Convention Management Association as its 2013 Educator Honoree at a dinner celebrating professional achievement May 15 in Washington, D.C.

Vannucci is in her 15th year as a professor at the Metropolitan State University of Denver in the department of hospitality, tourism and events.

She has served as an adviser for the association for 14 years. Vannucci is the daughter of Betty Vannucci-Elinoff of Las Vegas.

Jerrie Merritt, senior vice president and community development manager for Bank of Nevada, has been named one of Five Fantastic Women by Easter Seals Nevada for her support of the organization.

She is set to be honored at a ceremony Aug. 21.

Nevada State College has presented the President’s Medal to Rod Davis, senior vice president of dignity health, Nevada operations and president/CEO of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, Siena campus; and Linda Young, Clark County School Board of Trustees.

The award honors local leaders and philanthropists for their dedication to the development of the college.

Carol Cooper has been appointed director of administrative services at Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, formerly Nevada Development Authority.

Cooper began her career with Nevada Development Authority in 1989 as an accounting specialist. She is on the Las Vegas Perspective board and was previously on the board of School to Career and participated on the committee for Preview Las Vegas.

Michele Mack, a teacher at Rancho High School, participated in the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Summer Teacher Institute June 17-21.

Mack was selected from a pool of more than 500 applicants. Participants work with library education specialists and subject-matter experts to learn effective practices for using primary sources in the classroom.

Pat Skorkowsky, Jeff Zander, Kaimi Dempsey, Linda Richardson and Ray Trujillo have been named to the board of directors of Communities in Schools of Nevada.

Amelia Gulling, Desert Research Institute’s GreenPower program administrator, was appointed by Nevada’s Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation to membership on the Clean Energy Sector Council as a representative of her educational institution and a leader in the clean energy industry sector.

Marilyn Drake has been appointed to the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District’s Board of Trustees by the city of Las Vegas. Drake is a librarian at The Meadows School. Her term is scheduled to run through April 2017.
