Dining Pick of the Week: Big Dog's Draft House

Big Dog’s Draft House

4543 N. Rancho Drive, north of West Craig Road; 702-645-1404.

Big Dog’s Draft House has been a favorite for years with its Midwest hospitality, large Dining Barn and award-winning microbrewery, along with being home to “Cheeseheads” who cheer for the Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin Badgers. The extensive menu has many Wisconsin items such as Wisconsin cheese curds served with dill horseradish sauce, Bavarian soft pretzel with sweet beer mustard, homemade Wisconsin beer cheese soup, walleye tacos and The Big 10 pizza made with Klement’s smoked bratwurst. Specialty sandwiches include Grandma’s Pot Roast Melt, Italian beef and sausage hoagie, Big Dog’s Club, blackened rib eye and — no surprise — Wisconsin bratwurst. There are large salads, charbroiled ground chuck hamburgers, hand-stretched pizzas and desserts such as brownie sundae, key lime pie and bread pudding. Dinners (baby back ribs, stroganoff, country fried steak, grilled brat platters) are served nightly from 5 to 11 p.m. and Power Lunches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, with items such as BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado) and Big Italian Sub, where an Amoroso roll is filled with ham, pepperoni, salami, Provolone, shredded lettuce, roasted peppers and tomatoes and drizzled with olive oil and red wine vinegar. The 24-hour breakfast menu is delicious. Sandwiches start at $9.50. The Draft House is open 24/7.
