Dining Pick of the Week: Leticia's Mexican Cocina

Leticia’s Mexican Cocina

7585 Norman Rockwell Lane, No. 1, at Farm Road; 702-445-7722

When Leticia Mitchell opened her restaurant, she knew it would be successful because her menu features dishes she learned from her mother while growing up in Mexico City. “Fresh” is the way to describe her flavorful Mexican dining, beginning with guacamole made daily with tomatoes, onions, cilantro and limes. Other popular appetizers are mini taquitos, nacho fries, shrimp ceviche and Mexican shrimp cocktail with homemade pico de gallo, Mexican cocktail sauce, sliced avocado and lime. Chef specials include seafood fajitas, pork chops in green tomatillo sauce, cecina a la tampiquena (top sirloin with mushrooms, bacon, cheese, chiles, onions) and Mexican seafood bouillabaisse served only on Fridays. Other featured entrees are chile rellenos, enchiladas, tostadas, sopes, tamales, burritos and Leticia’s award-winning QuesaTacos made with a blend of Oaxaca cheese and grilled shrimp cooked in Abuelo sauce. Leticia’s famous hamburger is ground chuck with ground chicharrones, cheese, bacon, sliced avocado and grilled onions on a telera roll. There are also soups (albondiga, cream of potato) and salads. Breakfast and lunch specials are served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Several breakfast items are huevos rancheros, omelets, pozole rojo and scrambled eggs with shredded beef, chorizo, potatoes, beans and tortillas. Entrees start at $12.89. Leticia’s is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
