MIRACLE MILE TO DONATE FOUNTAIN COINS TO BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS

Coins tossed into the water at the fountain and the indoor rainstorm during March at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resorts, 3663 Las Vegas Blvd. South, are set to be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada in honor of National Boys & Girls Club Week.

The fountain will be blue between regularly scheduled water shows. Regularly scheduled water shows are set to take place at the top of every hour from noon to 11 p.m.

CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS FOR LAS VEGAS VETERANS MEMORIAL

The Las Vegas Veterans Memorial Foundation launched a Brick Campaign to raise awareness and funds to help the nonprofit organization complete a memorial honoring the nation’s veterans and their families.

The foundation is seeking to raise $2.2 million to build the memorial in downtown Las Vegas’ Cultural Corridor.

The foundation has raised more than $900,000 for the project from private donations, and developers hope to complete it by this year. The memorial is set to include 2,500 bricks that can be purchased in honor or memory of someone who has served in the military.

Bricks range from $250 to $550 and can be customized with the name of a veteran, their rank, service dates and military branch.

EARTH DAY ART CONTEST DEADLINE APPROACHES

The city of Las Vegas’ Keep Las Vegas Beautiful program, in partnership with the Clark County School District School-Community Partnership Program and Republic Services of Southern Nevada, is set to host its fifth annual Earth Day Every Day Art Contest for students in elementary, middle and high schools.

The contest is set to culminate at an awards ceremony for the finalists and their teachers April 18 at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Cash prizes, sponsored by Republic Services, are set to be awarded to the top three winners of each age group and their teachers. Artwork submitted by winners and runners-up will also be part of a Youth Earth Day art display at the Town Square event and later displayed at Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S. Main St.

Contest entries must be received by 4 p.m. March 27.

SIEGFRIED AND ROY PARK ART PROPOSALS TO BE PRESENTED

Three design proposals for public art at Siegfried and Roy Park on Russell Road between Maryland Parkway and Paradise Road are set to be presented to the public from 2 to 5 p.m. March 20 at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive.

A panel of six judges selected three semifinalists from 26 applicants who responded to a call for qualifications to create the artwork. The semifinalists are Wayne Littlejohn, Miguel Rodriguez and a team called ARVs Collaborative.

Clark County broke ground on the 20-acre park in October and is scheduled to open it this summer. The park is set to include a walking path, two tennis courts, a splash pad and playground equipment suitable for toddlers through pre-teens.
