More than pizza on the menu at Slice of Vegas inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place

Pizza, pasta, Italian specialties — Slice of Vegas offers a bit of everything.

The casual, sit-down restaurant inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, 3930 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is the perfect place to grab a quick bite before taking in a concert at the Mandalay Bay Events Center or the House of Blues. Service is fast and friendly, and the menu has enough variety to satisfy just about any craving. An unexpected highlight is the restaurant’s vast vegan menu and gluten-free options.

Signature pizzas ($18.95 for a 12-inch Personal that easily feeds two people; $29.95 for an 18-inch Family size) include Nonna’s Margherita (fresh mozzarella medallions, chopped basil); It’s All Greek To Me (herbed oil sauce, gyro meat, mozzarella, feta, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, cucumber and tzatziki); Hangover (sausage gravy, cheddar, mozzarella, green peppers, onions, potatoes, bacon, ham and scrambled eggs); and Back East Buffalo (mozzarella, fried chicken tenders, julienne carrots and celery, ranch and mild Buffalo sauce).

If you’re feeling up to gambling your cholesterol, try Miles’ 10 Meat, with beef, pork and veal Bolognese, prosciutto, pepperoni, ham, sausage, bacon, salami, capicola and mozzarella.

Build-your-own pizzas are $14.95 for a 12-inch pie and $22.95 for 18 inches.

Along with the pizzas, there’s also a variety of pasta bowls and house classics on the menu: Create-your-own pasta bowls feature a pasta, sauce, protein and veggies, including protein options of chicken, sausage or meatballs for $5; shrimp for $6; steak or mussels for $8; and salmon for $7. A roasted veggie mix is $3.

Italian specialties include lasagna Bolognese (beef, pork and veal mixture) for $17 and chicken parmigiana or salmon primavera for $20. There’s also a variety of appetizers (try the garlic bread), salads, burgers and sandwiches, including Who’s Reuben with sliced corned beef on a pretzel bun, with house thousand island dressing, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese; and Philly Cheese Steak with sliced roast beef, grilled green peppers and onions and beer cheese sauce on a hoagie roll (sandwiches are $14).

Circling back to the vegan menu: Meat- and dairy-free diners will find plenty of appetizer, sandwich, pasta and pizza choices made with meatless meatballs, faux chicken and Daiya mozzarella-style shreds.

If you’ve saved room for dessert, try the pizza cookie with ice cream.

Slice of Vegas is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight Friday and Saturday.
