MUSIC 4 LIFE TO HOST OPEN HOUSE OCT. 23

INFLUENZA IMMUNIZATION CLINIC SET TO OFFER VACCINATIONS OCT. 26

Southern Hills Hospital & Medical Center, 9300 W. Sunset Road, is set to offer a no-cost influenza immunization clinic from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 26. Children 4 or younger, seniors, pregnant women and individuals with chronic health conditions are considered the most susceptible to the virus. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and fatigue.

The clinic will offer vaccinations on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone 6 months or older and uninsured or underinsured are eligible to receive vaccinations. Those with health insurance are encouraged to speak with their doctor or pharmacist about getting vaccinated.

DRUM CLASSES OFFERED AT MUSIC HEALTH CENTER

Music 4 Life, 2975 S. Rainbow Blvd., Suite B, is set to host “Drummunication” classes from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and 30, Nov. 6 and 20 and Dec. 4 and 18. The class is said to “release stress, raise spirits and enhance clarity and focus.” Instruments are provided. The cost is $15 for members and $25 for nonmembers.

GUN RANGE TO OFFER ZOMBIE HUNT EXPERIENCE THROUGH OCT. 31

The Range 702, 4699 Dean Martin Drive, is set to offer a zombie hunt experience package through Oct. 31. The range transformed two private shooting ranges into a zombie-filled graveyard with fog, eerie sound effects and zombie targets that ooze blood when hit.

Participants can fire 64 rounds with three guns. The cost is $200, and ammunition can be doubled for $99.

GUITAR LESSONS SET THROUGH THE FALL AT SPRING VALLEY LIBRARY

The Spring Valley Library, 4280 S. Jones Blvd., plans to offer free guitar lessons from 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 and 17. Local instructor Don Musser will be teaching guitar chords, chord progressions and popular songs. Participants must bring their own guitars.

The University Medical Center is scheduled to host a Comfort Healing With Pillows senior class at 10 a.m. Oct. 22 at the Family Resource Center, 1120 Shadow Lane. The class will teach participants how to remove muscle tension, decrease joint pain and increase their quality of sleep with proper pillow placement.

The Windmill Library, 7060 W. Windmill Lane, is set to host a Halloween pumpkin decorating starting Oct. 26. Participants can bring in their pre-carved, decorated pumpkins to be displayed in the library lobby. Judging for the funniest, scariest, most creative and best in show pumpkins will begin at noon Oct. 31. Entries will be grouped by children 3 to 10, 11 to 17 and adults 18 or older. AREA GROCERY DELIVERY SERVICE OFFERS PINK MILK

Winder Farms, a grocery home-delivery company based in southwest Las Vegas, will go pink for Susan G. Komen For the Cure by raising money and awareness for breast cancer screening, treatment programs and research.

Through Oct. 31, Winder Farms is set to donate a portion of the proceeds from its strawberry milk to the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Winder Farms strawberry milk is made with reduced fat milk and comes from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones or antibiotics.

BANK OF AMERICA INITIATIVE PLANNED TO BENEFIT VETERANS SUPPORT GROUPS

Bank of America has announced a fundraising initiative, Express Your Thanks, to benefit veterans of the Wounded Warrior Project and Welcome Back Veterans, an initiative of Major League Baseball Charities.

The project’s goal is to raise $1 million for these charities. Running through Veterans Day (Nov. 11), anyone can participate by taking a photo, creating a video or writing a message of support and sharing it on bankofamerica.com/troopthanks. They also can post on Twitter with the hashtag #troopthanks. For every message posted, Bank of America will donate $1 to Wounded Warriors and Welcome Back Veterans.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB SCHEDULES BOYS FUNDRAISER EVENT

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada’s 42nd annual Boys Nite Out is scheduled from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club, 2850 Lindell Road.

The event pairs boys from the club with men from the community to play games, eat a meal and win prizes. Each male community member must pay a $50 fee to participate. All members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada are admitted free.

The Las Vegas Single Social Travel Club for Mature Adults invites prospective members to its meetings, which are scheduled for 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Tap House, 5589 W. Charleston Blvd.

The meet-and-greet portion is set to start at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room. Discussions focus on day trips, local events, in-state and out-of-state traveling, cruises and international traveling. Solari Hospice Care, 5550 S. Jones Blvd., is looking for volunteers to aid with day-to-day operations and patient well-being.

Volunteers bring companionship to people in the final months and weeks of life, often when people find themselves cut off from the community, isolated and alone. They bring respite to family caregivers who are caring for dying loved ones. Sometimes volunteers share a special knowledge or hobby, such as speaking a second language or playing music. Solari also uses volunteers to answer phones, assist with receptionist duties or perform light secretarial work.
