LVLT LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER USHERS FOR UPCOMING SHOWS
The Las Vegas Little Theatre, 3920 Schiff Drive, is looking for usher volunteers for two upcoming shows: “Boston Marriage” in the Black Box from Sept. 5-21 and “Mrs. Mannerly” on the Mainstage from Sept. 12-28. Productions are planned to run at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays with a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee. LVLT HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR VOLUNTEER ACTING ROLES
The Las Vegas Little Theatre, 3920 Schiff Drive, is holding open auditions for the musical comedy “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.” All roles are unpaid volunteer positions. SPRINGS PRESERVE PLANNING EVENTS THROUGH SEPTEMBER
The Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., has special events scheduled for September. Check out the Nature Exchange’s insect collection and paint your own wooden insect to take home during Wooden Insect Critter!, planned from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Learn about Nevada’s gold-panning history and then try your hand at panning for fool’s gold during Pan for Gold!, planned at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. ARTS CENTER PLANNING CLASS REGISTRATIONS
The Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St., is set to offer dance class Fall I class registration for all ages through Sept. 10 for a six-week session of classes Sept. 10-Oct. 18. The Fall II class registration is planned Sept. 15-Oct. 29 for a six-week session of classes starting Oct. 29. CHURCH PLANS HUMANITARIAN DAY, FAMILY HISTORY EVENT
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is set to host two upcoming events.
— Humanitarian Day is planned from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at 3400 W. Charleston Blvd. Attendees will make Halloween pillow cases for University Medical Center, games for local schools and quilts for general needs. Lunch will be provided.
— Family History Jamboree is set for 8 a.m.-2:45 p.m. Sept. 6 at 221 S. Lorenzi St. The event is scheduled to include 40 classes offered by 21 presenters from Nevada and Utah. Sessions will cover family history and research. Lunch will be provided.

WEEKLY CLASSES TO TEACH PARENTS AND CHILDREN ABOUT HEALTHY EATING
University Medical Center plans a free parenting education workshop series for children ages 3-5 and their parents at the Family Resource Center, 1120 Shadow Lane.
The goal of the seven-week Little Books/Little Cooks program is to teach healthy eating and nutrition. Sessions are set for 1:30-3 p.m. Mondays Sept. 8 through Oct. 27.

TRAIN CONDUCTORS SOUGHT FOR OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE EVENTS
Opportunity Village, 6300 W. Oakey Blvd., is seeking volunteer conductors to drive the Forest Express Passenger Train during the nonprofit’s annual Magical Forest and HallOVeen events.
Classes are planned from 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. Anyone interested should contact Jane Bjorklund at 702-880-4038 or bjorklundj@opportunityvillage.org. A driver’s license is not required, but volunteers must be at least 18.
