1. Tzedakah Jazz Brunch: The Jewish Family Service Agency of Las Vegas plans to host the annual Tzedakah Jazz Brunch at 11 a.m. March 6 at Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane. Nevada Women's Film Festival: Robin Greenspun is set to be honored as Nevada Women Filmmaker of the Year at this year's Nevada Women's Film Festival, set to kick off March 4 in the Big Springs Theater at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., with a reception and screening of her documentary "Semicolon: The Adventures of Ostomy Girl." The three-day festival is also slated to include screenings of films from all over the world made by women or with stories featuring strong female characters. Also planned are panel discussions ranging from costuming for films to a behind-the-scenes look at Brett Levner's feature film about underage sex trafficking, "The Track." Summer Camp Expo: The Meadows School plans to host its 13th annual Summer Camp Expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 5 at the school's Richard-Beckley Gymnasium, 8601 Scholar Lane. Attendees will be able to examine more than 40 local and national summer camps. Families can visit informational booths and speak with representatives from camp programs featuring concentrations including fine arts, science, technology and outdoor adventure. Brandeis University National Committee meeting: The Las Vegas chapter plans to host its 19th annual Book and Author Luncheon at 10:30 a.m. March 6 at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle. Victoria Kilbury, Ph.D., plans to speak about her book, "Disenchanted: One Woman's Journey for Independence from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," the real life story of Nabila, who grew up in a society where women have no rights. Bill Friedman is also set to speak about his new book, "30 Illegal Years to the Strip." U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West: The group is set to perform free at 7 p.m. March 3 at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Know Nevada Insects: Attendees can learn how to identify insects and ways of reducing garden pests in the least-toxic ways March 3 at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension's Demonstration and Test Gardens, 8050 Paradise Road. Fishing Derby: Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow is set to host a Ward 5 fishing derby from 8 a.m. to noon March 5 at Lorenzi Park, 3333 W. Each attendee will select their own bowl made by members and friends of the Nevada Clay Guild and keep it as a lasting reminder of world hunger. St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival: The 50th Annual Southern Nevada Sons and Daughters of Erin St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival is scheculed from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 11, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 12 and noon to 9 p.m. March 13. Admission to the festival is free. Some activities may require purchased tickets, which will be available at the event.
