Admission is free, and artisans and crafters will be offering items for sale, along with pomegranate jelly, syrup, juice and honey and whole pomegranates. Golf Fore Recovery Charity Golf Tournament: Foundation for Recovery's eighth annual tournament is set for 8 a.m. Nov. 9 at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle. Funds raised will support the foundation's addiction and mental health recovery services in Southern Nevada, including a free peer recovery support center and a youth initiative, Helping Young People Experience Recovery, which focuses on helping adolescents and young adults live healthy lives. The public is invited to join the country's healing heroes on one of three routes (20, 40, or 70 miles). Breakfast is set be provided pre-ride. Mesquite Pancake Breakfast: The fifth annual event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Permaculture Learning Garden inside the Vegas Roots Community Garden, 715 N. Tonopah Drive. It will highlight the edibles that grow in the Mojave desert, with the key ingredient being the Mesquite bean from Mesquite trees. The countdown to the lighting of more than 500,000 colorful lights is set for 6 p.m. More than 70 percent of the lights this year will be LED, the business said. Radio host Mercedes from MIX 94.1-FM is slated to be the master of ceremonies, with holiday entertainment provided by Las Vegas Strip performers from "Human Nature" and the Jabbawockeez, as well as the Sin City Opera. The evening is set to feature photos with Santa, chocolate samples, face painters, balloon artists, raffles and more. The event is free, but tickets are required. Lung Force Walk: The annual event is planned for noon Nov. 14 at Kellogg-Zaher Park, 7901 W. Washington Ave., to raise funds for those who have lung cancer, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other lung diseases. Presented by Kindred Hospital Las Vegas, the event also is set to include jump houses, contests and a Survivor Stride Walk for those affected by lung diseases, as well as a Breathe Deeper and Mission Area where walkers can receive health and wellness information and additional health screenings. Check-in is at 10 a.m., with the walk at noon. A Catch Big Air Contest is set for 1 p.m. Participation in the walk is free, and teams are welcome; however, participants are encouraged to raise funds for the American Lung Association's mission. Walkers who raise $100 or more become Fearless Fighters and receive a T-shirt, a turquoise ribbon and food at the walk. Walkers age 18 or older must register as participants.
