1. Back-to-school fashion show:A Geek Chic fashion show is set to be part of a back-to-school event planned from noon to 7 p.m. July 25 at Downtown Summerlin, 1980 Festival Plaza Drive. Fashion shows are scheduled for 2, 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. A presentation of fashion trends also is planned by FashionTrend.Vegas, along with an Instaprint Photo Booth, refreshments, a retail street scene, community performances and more. Hosted in partnership with Zappos, the Geek Chic fashion show is set for 1 p.m. The Zappos Bright Future Experience also is planned, with fun stations for kids filled with Zappos merchandise, a braid and accessories bar and a photo experience. Coca-Cola plans to host an air-conditioned refreshment station with a DJ, interactive Emoji wall and tasting lounge. Home Aid of Southern Nevada will be on hand to collect donations of backpacks and school supplies, and Zappos is giving customers who bring gently used clothing and footwear for teens a free treat from CREAM. 2. Super Summer Theatre: “€œBye Bye Birdie” is planned for 8:05 p.m. through July 25 at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 6375 state Route 159, about 10 miles west of the 215 Beltway. Parking is set to open at 5 p.m., and meadow seating at 6 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or rent a chair in general admission grass seating. Dino Summer: The visiting exhibit is planned at The Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., through Sept. 20. It is set to feature an animatronic Tyrannosaurus rex and triceratops, interactive video games and a dino bone dig. The attraction is also scheduled to offer a 30-minute live animal show titled “Eat or Be Eaten: Predators and Prey”€ at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. daily through Aug. 23 and Aug. 29 and 30. The show is set to feature Springs Preserve zoologists and staff members with a rotating cast of animals, including bugs, lizards, snakes and small mammals.
