FOUR STAKES TO HOST PROVIDENT LIVING FAIR

Four Stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints plans to host the Provident Living Fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Lorenzi Building, 221 S. Lorenzi St. Classes are set to start at 9 a.m. and include fall gardening in Las Vegas, financial planning, solar oven cooking, emergency sanitation, first aid, earning money in a tough economy, canning fall fruits and vegetables, and wills and trusts.

NEVADA SCHOOL OF DANCE TO HOST AUDITIONS for ‘the nutcracker’

The Nevada School of Dance plans to host free auditions for “The Nutcracker” from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at 6072 S. Durango Drive.

Children 5 to 10 with or without ballet experience may try out, and preteen and teen male and female dancers with ballet experience may audition for such roles as Mouse King, Nutcracker Prince, snowflakes, dolls, Spanish dancers and the Waltz of the Flowers. Adults are welcome to audition for the party parents.

WEBSITE TO EXPLAIN 10-DIGIT DIALING

A new website, dial10digits.org, has been created to explain the start of 10-digit telephone dialing in Clark County and the formation of the 725 area code.

Aug. 3 was scheduled to mark the beginning of a nine-month transition period to allow Clark County residents to adapt gradually to 10-digit dialing before mandatory 10-digit dialing deadline takes effect on May 3, 2014, and the 725 area code debuts on June 3, 2014.
