Sue Lowden going up with second TV ad “Creating Opportunity”

It looks like Sue Lowden is trying to create an opportunity to jump out ahead of the GOP primary pack in the race for Democrat Sen. Harry Reid's Senate seat.

Lowden is coming out with her second TV ad of the election season on Tuesday, a week after she became the first Republican to hit the airwaves.

Like her first ad, this second TV and radio spot focuses on her biography and not on her opponents, according to a copy obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Titled "Creating Opportunity," the 30-second ad says Lowden's family came to America "with empty pockets and overflowing dreams" and they prospered by working and saving.

The ad notes that Lowden and her husband Paul, who owned and ran several casinos in Nevada, created thousands of new jobs.

The former state Senator also says she took on a powerful politician to win election and she shut down the taxation committee to prevent a "job-killing tax increase."

During her second session in 1995, as chairwoman of the Senate taxation committee, Lowden opposed what news accounts called an $8.7 million pork bill supported by finance committee chairman Sen. Bill Raggio. In her first session in 1993, however, Lowden voted to impose higher taxes or fees in some cases, including for liability corporations, water distribution and slot machines.

Lowden ends her new ad with this catch phrase: "Fighting for your job is my job."

The ad will run statewide on all major TV networks, Fox News Channel and statewide radio as well, costing more than $125,000 – about the same as last week's statewide spots.
