Hot, dry weather in store this week

The Las Vegas Valley will stay hot and dry this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday was hot and hazy as smoke from the Sand wildfire near Los Angeles hangs over the valley. The Clark County Department of Air Quality reported a moderate level of smoke and a level of ozone that may be unsafe for sensitive groups for the day.

Sunday saw a high temperature of 112 degrees, with a low of 88 degrees, meteorologist Andy Gorelow.

The smoke is expected to stick around until Monday, maybe longer, the weather service said.

However, the valley will stay hot and sunny, with a high of 110 degrees forecast for Monday and Tuesday, Gorelow said. Temperatures will reach 111 Wednesday and Thursday, then drop to 109 on Friday and 107 on Saturday.

Low temperatures will stay in the mid- to upper-80s, he said.

A 10 perent chance of rain is forecast for the week, Gorelow said. There’s a better shot of seeing rain over the weekend as temperatures will start to cool down, he said.
