It’s staying warm, dry and sunny in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Valley will remain "warm, dry and mostly sunny" until Leap Day on Monday when slightly cooler temperatures and breezy conditions are expected to move in, National Weather Service meteorologist Chad Shafer said.

Temperatures stay consistent with Friday's high near 78, Saturday near 79 and Sunday about 78. The lows are expected to be in the low 50s through the weekend, according to the weather service.

Although these temperatures are about 10 to 15 degrees above normal, there are no record high temperatures immediately in jeopardy, Shafer said.

Sunday may see some light winds before a system moves in Monday bringing cooler temperatures and higher winds early in the week. Monday's high is expected to be 76 degrees, which is 13 degrees above the last Leap Day's high temperature. Tuesday will have a high near 73 degrees, according to the weather service.

Winds are expected to be between 15 and 20 mph with gusts near 25 mph in most of the valley Monday and Tuesday. Winds will be even higher in the Colorado River Valley with 20 to 30 mph winds and gusts up to 40 mph, meteorologist Chris Outler said.

"It will be dry," Shafer said about the lack of precipitation over the next seven days. "The mountains are going to be high and dry as well."

Mount Charleston reported just 1 inch of snow at Fire Station 81 Wednesday and will have highs in the mid- to upper 50s through the weekend.

"You'll have to go to the high peaks to see any snow," Shafer said.
