The weekend will be ‘pretty hot’ in the Las Vegas Valley but no records expected

A “pretty hot week” is ahead in the Las Vegas Valley, the National Weather Service said.

The weekend kicked off with a high temperature of 113 degrees Saturday — just 2 degrees shy of the 115 daily record — and Sunday’s high is expected to be slightly cooler with a forecast of 110, meteorologist Reid Wolcott said.

Monday and Tuesday are both expecting highs of 109 degrees, Wednesday’s high is forecast to be 110 degrees, and Thursday’s high is expected to reach 111 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The coming week does not look likely to receive rain, Wolcott said. Though the Las Vegas Valley should see some clouds — and smoke from California wildfires — the weather service predicts precipitation primarily in the Colorado River Basin.

Sunday wind speeds should remain about 20 mph, Wolcott said.
