Local Realtors donate school supplies to Boys Girls Clubs

Although the school year has begun, local Realtors recognize that many students still don’t have the basic supplies they need to succeed.

As a result, members of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors spent much of the summer collecting backpacks and school supplies to be donated to local students served by the Boys &Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada.

GLVAR members celebrated another successful school supply drive on Aug. 18, when a group of volunteer Realtors dropped off carloads of donated backpacks and all sorts of school supplies to an appreciative crowd of students and staff at the Lied Clubhouse of the Boys &Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada.

This latest donation was part of a statewide school supply drive organized by the Nevada Association of Realtors and its LeadershipNVAR Class of 2017.

For the second straight year, LeadershipNVAR, NVAR’s signature program for personal and professional growth, organized the drive as part of its annual class project. Realtors responded by collecting and donating thousands of dollars in school supplies at designated locations around the state.

GLVAR President David J. Tina applauded his fellow Realtors “for doing their part to help such a deserving cause.”

He added that the National Association of Realtors has partnered with Boys &Girls Clubs across the country in recent years and that these clubs serve as a home away from home for nearly 4 million children each year, including thousands of boys and girls in need here in Southern Nevada.

Las Vegas Realtors Stephanie Dibbs-Mangual, a 2017 LeadershipNVAR class member and one of the organizers of the school supply drive, was among the group of volunteers who dropped off donations last month to the club in Las Vegas.

“We want to bring smiles to the children who thrive in these clubs and the staff that works tirelessly to help kids,” she said.

“Mission accomplished,” said Andy Bischel, president and CEO of the Boys &Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada.

“Thank you for your continued support of our club kids,” Bischel said in a message to organizers of the school supply drive. “We sincerely appreciate the NVAR Leadership program’s efforts to enhance and engage our kids’ academic progress.”
