Florida toddler shoots younger sister outside of preschool

A 3-year-old boy shot his sister in the face with a handgun on Friday outside of a Florida preschool.

The boy and his 1-year-old sister were alone in the car while their mom was talking to people in the parking lot, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. The boy picked up the handgun from an unknown location in the car and shot his sister once in the lip and jaw area, police said.

Police said they didn’t know if the children’s mom, who hasn’t been identified, was licensed to carry.

The girl was flown via helicopter to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police are still trying to determine whether criminal charges will be filed, according to the New York Daily News.
