Man critical after North Las Vegas shooting

A man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the northeast valley, police said.

At 11:07 p.m., North Las Vegas police responded to a call in the 2200 block of North Pecos Road, near East Carey Avenue, where a 20-year-old man had been shot, Metro Lt. Steve Candelas said.

The man was southbound on Pecos when he was approached by two men, Metro Lt. John Liberty said early Sunday morning. The men “exchanged words” and one of the men was shot three times in the chest area and once in the leg, Liberty said.

Police found six gun casings at the scene and one away from the others.

The man was taken to University Medical Center.

Metro’s Gang Unit responded to the scene.
