Woman bills hospital $122.50 for wasted time
A Canadian woman is demanding she be reimbursed for waiting 90 minutes for what she said was a shot that would have taken less than a minute.
Leslie Ellins, of Ontario, told CBC she was one of four people scheduled to see the same doctor on April 14 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. She and the other patients were told to wait while the doctor and nurses went to lunch.
She was more upset for being told to pay $25 for a cortisone shot, something that had previously been offered for free.
“There was absolutely no respect from any of the people there for the fact it was our time and we waited an extended period of time for a booked appointment,” she said. “It was just ridiculous!”
Ellins wrote to the hospital and included a bill for $122.50 for wasted time, Global News reported. She based the fee off her $75 an hour bookkeeping service fees.
She said she didn’t expect payment, but she wanted to make a point.
