2 new Nevada salmonella cases possibly linked to imported cucumbers
Two new salmonella cases have been reported in Nevada in a multistate outbreak potentially linked to imported cucumbers from Mexico.
The new cases bring to nine the number of cases in Nevada, and six of the cases were reported in Clark County. Nationwide, 418 people in 31 states are infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Poona, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Two deaths have been reported — one in California and one in Texas.
On Friday, Custom Produce Sales voluntarily recalled all cucumbers sold under the Fat Boy label starting Aug. 1. Unlabeled cucumbers packed into a black reusable plastic container, and sold in Nevada since Aug. 1, also are covered by that recall. Those cucumbers were sent to Custom Produce Sales from Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce.
Andrew & Williamson on Sept. 4 voluntarily recalled all cucumbers sold under the "Limited Edition" brand label from Aug. 1 through Sept. 3.
