Body of 24-year-old man found in Lake Mead identified

A 24-year-old man who went missing July 5 in Lake Mead has been identified.

He is Luis Javier Bojas-Vargas of North Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner‘€™s office said. Lake Mead National Recreation Area rangers pulled his body out of Boulder Basin on Sunday after a boater spotted him.

Bojas-Vargas was reported missing after he jumped off a boat into the water. He was struggling before he went underwater.

Officials said he might have been wearing a life jacket that was not secured and it fell off while he was in the water.
