Man taken to hospital after car fire

One man was sent to the hospital with serious burns after he set himself and his vehicle on fire Sunday night.

Firefighters arrived on-scene about 8:54 p.m. to find a car fully involved in flames near Lake Mead and Jones Boulevards, according to Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski.

The occupant of the vehicle, described as a middle-aged male, was transported to University Medical Center with serious burns.

As he was being pulled from the vehicle, the man was was shouting that he wanted to die, said Las Vegas police Lt. Craig Klatt.

The fire department’s arson unit is investigating the incident.
