Early morning crash leaves one dead, one in hospital

One man died and one person was taken to a hospital following an overnight crash in the intersection of North Durango Drive and West Washburn Road Sunday.

Las Vegas police said a 2003 Toyota Tacoma ran a stop sign on Washburn and crashed into a 1995 Chrysler New Yorker about 2:30 a.m.

The Toyota hit the Chrysler on the left side, pushing it into the southwest corner of the intersection.

The Toyota flipped over and ejected the driver, who died on the scene. The truck’s passenger was sent to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Two people in the Chrysler reported minor injuries but were not taken to a hospital.

Police said the crash is still being investigated.

The man’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office once next of kin have been notified.
