North Las Vegas police ask for help to find owner of car involved in fatal hit-and-run

North Las Vegas police are seeking the public’s help to find Qaadir Isaam Amin II, who police said is the registered owner of the GMC Yukon that was involved in a hit-and-run crash Saturday that left one man dead.
Officers on the scene found Clay Stampley Sr., 55, ejected from a vehicle and suffering from critical injuries. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he died, police said.
Investigators said Stampley was driving a Dodge Dakota south on Simmons Street when the GMC Yukon registered to Amin was traveling west on Cheyenne Avenue. The Yukon ran the red light and hit the Dakota.
“The driver and the passenger of that vehicle, got out, casually walked past Mr. Stampley, who was gravely injured in the roadway, and simply walked westbound,” North Las Vegas Police Department Lt. Lt. Tim Bedwell said. “They didn’t call anyone. They didn’t call 911. They didn’t make any attempt to help Mr. Stampley.”
Bedwell said police have amassed significant evidence from the vehicles, witnesses and other sources, and have tried to find Amin, who has a North Las Vegas address. However, those attempts have been unsuccessful so far.
“At this point, we’re asking the public’s help in identifying where Mr. Amin is so we can go to him, or encourage him to come and talk to the police,” Bedwell said. “It would be in his best interest, no matter what potential involvement he may have in this crash … for him to come forward.”
