Presidential talk to kids is a good thing
Not sure why my friends on the right are so worked up over President Barack Obama's speech to the nation's school children on Tuesday. Seems to me that talking to school kids is something the president ought to do each and every year, no matter if the president is Republican or Democrat.
Obviously, the president must avoid partisanship. But if the message is to work hard, take no short cuts and be all you can be, then the country shall be a better place, I can't think of a better message. And, because of Barack's own upbringing, he brings credibility to the talk.
Let's hope he doesn't let his partisanship show. If he can be inspiring with out letting his left-wing, state-is-good, businss-is-bad political beliefs show, he'll be finally (after nine long months) doing something outright good for America.
You can see his full advance speech here. Stick to it, Mr. President, especially the part about "Maybe you could be a good writer – maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper ..." American newspapers can use all the good independent-thinking journalists they can find. Especially those willing to question authority.
