3 dead in Washington, D.C., house fire

WASHINGTON — Three people died in a fire in northwest Washington on Thursday and homicide investigators were on site, a local television affiliate reported.

The Washington Post and NBC’s local affiliate said the fire occurred in a house not far from the U.S. Naval Observatory grounds, where the vice president’s residence is located.

The NBC affiliate said homicide investigators were on site for what they termed a “major crime scene.”
