Heart of Education Awards seeks teacher nominees

Williams Elementary honored for spike in performance

In 2004, only 7 percent of students at Williams Elementary School passed the state’s reading test. Only 8 percent were proficient in math. Last school year, those numbers were up to 43 percent and 61 percent, respectively, leading to Williams being named a National Title I Distinguished School by the National Title I Association.

Summer program has students sink teeth into food industry

More than 100 middle school students from across the Las Vegas Valley attended Henderson Summer July 9 through Aug. 10 at The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain. Sponsored by GB Henderson Education, the program taught kids about the food industry.
