UNLV stadium consultant Mark Rosentraub says a new on-campus venue could appeal to major football conference TV networks, giving the university leverage to join a BCS conference like the Pac-12 or Big Ten and to draw millions of dollars in new TV revenue.
UNLV plans a campaign to raise more than $500 million to help finance Southern Nevada’s first medical school, a major on-campus football stadium/entertainment center and other major campus improvements, the university’s president said Wednesday.
Students will now be allowed to enter the tailgate area with their student IDs. The fee for students to enter the area was dropped to $10 per vehicle, but non-students will still have to pay $20 per vehicle. Last year, the fee was $40 per car.
UNLV officials who want students to attend football games are considering easing up on student tailgating policies. Members of UNLV’s student government say current tailgating policies discourage student attendance at games.
