Mark Shunock considers Mondays Dark a win-win opportunity for everyone. The monthly event enlists the help of entertainers who volunteer their talents to raise money for local nonprofits. The audience is entertained, the performers give back to the community and nonprofits get much-needed exposure and cash.

Letterman leaves ‘Late Show’ May 20

CBS and Letterman’s production company announced the exit date on Wednesday. Letterman said earlier this year he was retiring after more than 30 years as a late-night host, and the network later named Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central as his replacement.

It’s a two-for-one deal as fairy tales — and holiday wishes — come true this weekend at Henderson’s annual WinterFest, which features a tree-lighting, a light parade, music and dance performances and more. A free Thursday night concert by the Henderson Symphony Orchestra precedes the festivities.
