The city of Henderson is inviting all Clark County high school students to participate in its inaugural Battle of the Bands competition for a chance to perform at the city’s Fourth of July celebration.
A special Father’s Day concert featuring Firenze Strings is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd. The free concert will feature a group of musicians from the Las Vegas Philharmonic and Strip shows such as “The Lion King.”
The West African country of Cameroon is a bit closer to North Las Vegas thanks to artist Angu Walters. The 30-year-old painter is a splash of color in a din of poverty and political unrest, said Chuck Cavanaugh, the Southwest resident who helped put Walters’ name on the lips of Las Vegas artists.
