Pahranagat Valley’s football team captured its eighth consecutive state title, running its winning streak to 93 games, matching a national record for the longest winning streak in eight-man football. The Panthers were the Review-Journal’s Team of the Year.
Bishop Gorman’s Biaggio Ali Walsh rushed for 33 touchdowns in helping the Gaels to a seventh consecutive state championship and a second straight No. 1 national ranking. He was the Review-Journal’s Male Athlete of the Year.
Centennial junior Karina Haymore won the Division I state cross country title, then posted the state’s fastest times in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs in track. She was Review-Journal’s Female Athlete of the Year.
