The Life is Beautiful music and art festival got underway Friday with thousands jamming downtown Las Vegas to groove to the sounds Billie Eilish, Portugal, The Man and Chance the Rapper.

More than 195,000 people are expected to attend next weekend’s festival. But the festival’s impact goes far beyond one weekend every September.

Other upcoming events include a luau party at Container Park and a jukebox-and-the-mob-themed historical presentation.
Downtown Las Vegas Events Center has hosted more than 500 music shows, and nearly 100 viewing parties.
Chance the Rapper, The Black Keys and Post Malone top the bill for the Sept. 20-22 music and art festival.
Other downtown events include Atomic Liquors’ anniversaries, movie showings and a volunteer effort to help the homeless.
A six-minute montage of the DJ-producer’s hits will premiere later this month, providing the first glimpse of the $32 million renovation to the Viva Vision canopy.
