Sources: Henderson Constable may face more charges

Henderson Constable Earl Mitchell may face additional charges … stemming from his spending of county funds, sources said. Mitchell was indicted earlier this month on five felony theft and fraud charges … after a Las Vegas Review-Journal story questioned his spending. But grand jury records show even more extensive spending including … an $800 dinner at steakhouse … nearly 200 atm withdrawals mostly at gambling establishments … and even Disneyland tickets. But his attorney plans to ask a judge to dismiss the charges.

Around 7,000 Las Vegas houses were on the market without offers at the end of November, up 54 percent year-over-year. On Rainbow Boulevard at Cheyenne Avenue, a strip mall and the apartment complex next door reflect the state of things in commercial real estate. NBA Academies shine in Las Vegas

The NBA launched seven basketball academies worldwide in 2016 in an effort to globalize the game. On Friday, 25 student-athletes scrimmaged at Mandalay Bay Convention Center before the G League Winter Showcase. Among the top players was Timothy Ighoefe, a 6-foot-11 center signed to play college basketball at Georgetown. UNLV freshman forward Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua graduated from an NBA Academy.

Drone sightings picking up in Nevada

According to data from the Federal Aviation Administration, there were 659 reported drone sightings between April and June 2017 in the U.S., three of which were in Nevada. This year, there were 784 within the same period, with 16 sightings in Nevada. These numbers keep track of all reports, but are not independently verified.
