Las Vegas author Arlene Smith and her late husband, Lincoln Amos Smith, had a whirlwind romance. Arlene’s memoir “Family of Miracles” traces the couple’s path across the country raising kids in a variety of homes including converted vans and buses.

Volunteers a vital part of Blind Center

Most days at the Blind Center of Nevada, 1001 N. Bruce St., you can find people socializing, working on computers with special graphic-to-audio software, making art, learning life and job skills or even bowling. The center’s president, Cory Nelson, said the center couldn’t do it without volunteers.

15th annual ArtWalk set for Nov. 2-3 at Trails Village Center
