The Lights FC is using loans to enhance its roster. The Lights have recently added two players from Major League Soccer clubs. Defender Nico Samayoa came from the New England Revolution. Midfielder James Murphy arrived from LAFC. The Lights identified both players as potential fits for their roster. Now they’re hoping to develop them to add depth on the cheap.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is adding another loge seating area for the inaugural South Point 400 NASCAR weekend in September. The premium seating boxes in Turn 4 will mirror the ones in Turn 1. The loge will include swivel armchairs, padded seating, food-and-beverage stations, wait-staff service and rails upon which to place drinks. Riley Herbst made another successful debut in a major NASCAR series, finishing eighth in a Truck Series race at Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis. Fellow Las Vegas youngster Noah Gragson led a race-high 63 laps before fading to 10th at the finish due to a tire problem. The racing world continue to mourn World of Outlaws driver Jason Johnson, who was killed in a crash in Wisconsin. Johnson was a regular competitor at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The NHL and the Golden Knights were on their best behavior during the 2017-18 season. The Knights tied for last place in number of fighting penalties, and forward William Karlsson was awarded the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanship. Vegas also was well-behaved off the ice, with zero arrests or similar issues. The NHL has had only three arrests in 2018, after having none in 2017. The Lights FC’s competition in net is heating up. Rancho product Angel Alvarez make his second straight start last Sunday. It was the first time the Lights benched an available Ricardo Ferrino. Ferrino has 41 saves this year, while Alvarez has eight. I know that the competition between us three goalkeepers is great. If Ferrino would’ve played or Thomas would’ve played I know they would’ve done the same or even better than I did.
No one was injured after a detached garage caught fire early Wednesday morning on Lawry Avenue near Lake Mead Boulevard and MLK.
Crews from the Las Vegas Fire Department responded to a fire call just after 2 a.m.
When they arrived, firefighters had to cut holes in the roof to clear out smoke inside the garage so firefighters could enter safely, The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Dead Body Found in Home of New York Giants’ Janoris Jenkins ‘TMZ Sports’ broke the story and said the Major Crimes Unit is conducting an investigation. The deceased man’s body was reportedly discovered by a worker in the basement of Jenkins’ New Jersey home on Tuesday morning. The report also claims the NFL cornerback was out of state during the time of the body’s discovery. The identity of the victim and the cause of death are unclear.
