Police: Suspect shot Las Vegas teen in modified ‘Russian roulette’

A Henderson teen found dead Friday was shot during a modified “Russian roulette” game. Police say 17-year-old Matthew Minkler was left on the kitchen floor of an adandoned Henderson home. According to police documents, Jaiden Caruso, 16, and Kody Harlan, 17, returned to the house shortly afterward, but only to clean up the scene and hide the body inside a downstairs closet under a plastic sheet. Detectives say they never called 911, or “attempted to render aid.” It was only after a short vehicle pursuit Friday evening that police learned of the shooting and later found Matthew’s body. Caruso is facing charges of murder with a deadly weapon and robbery, while Harlan faces charges of accessory to murder after the fact, destroying evidence and robbery.

Wayne Newton surprises burglars

Wayne Newton and his wife, Kathleen, arrived at their southeast Las Vegas home shortly before midnight on Wednesday to find two burglars inside their house. The burglars fled and were seen heading north through the property. Las Vegas police quickly set up a perimeter and launched an extensive search of the area, but the suspects were able to escape. It was unclear if the burglars got away with anything of value. Several items, under the watchful eyes of the police, were seen on the ground near the home’s main driveway. Neither Newton, nor his wife, were injured. The Newtons were not available for comment.
