Southwest Las Vegas a training ground for some truck drivers

At age 26, Christa Welther is the exception in an industry dominated by male baby boomers. Robert Foreman, a Department of Motor Vehicles truck driving tester, said the combination of baby boomer retirement and higher demand for freight has resulted in a shortage of truck drivers across the country.

Southwest Las Vegas archer, 12, takes third at local tourney

Archer Haley West of southwest Las Vegas finished in third place out of 102 girls in her division at the Vegas Shoot at the South Point on Feb. 8-10. West, 12, competed for the first time in the youth division, made up of archers ages 12-14. She received a $500 scholarship for her finish.
